There are 3 types of screens for the Windows Mobile based smart phones (see below). Each have their respective advantages. A square or 240x240 screen (such as the Palm Treo 700 or 750 shown below) was common on older phones, while a 240x320 screen (which is more vertical in shape, like the 8525 from AT&T shown below) offer a "taller" screen so they can show longer lists of customers, inventory items, or open orders on their screens. You will note that in the example below of the model 8525, the screen changes from 240x320 when closed to 320x240 when open; so you have the best of both worlds in this type of phone.
The 320x240 phone (such as the Dash shown below, or also the 'Motorola Q' which are widescreen models) are widescreen models, and allow us to show more information (or columns) on each line of data, but not as many lines. This screen size allows the most room for signature capture applications so if that is important to you then you would want one with this screen size.
Requires a data subscription (preferrably unlimited) from your cell phone supplier, and a monthly hosting agreement from Genisys Software. Phone should ideally have a minimum of 64 MB of RAM and a SD slot for adding a memory card and/or using a bar code reader attachment. The phone must be running Windows Mobile version 5.0 or 6.0. The phone should also be pre-loaded with Office Mobile which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus Outlook (for contacts, appointment scheduling, etc).
