Background Information
Genisys Software, Inc. has a great deal of expertise with regard to software
for processing rental transactions with the Founder and President of the company,
Ray Bonestroo, having designed and installed his first rental transaction processing
system in 1986 for a large video rental store. This package is called
"MovieRENTTM" and is designed to be a multi-user
package that will allow 2 or more terminals to be working at the same time using
the same database. This was superior to the single user packages available
at that time. Now 25 years later, we still have many single and multi location video stores running MovieRENT.
Our largest video store client has more than 25 locations in 7 states.
In 1989, Mr. Bonestroo was asked to develop a "similar" system for
the equipment and party rental industry. Tom St. Martin, President of
the equipment and party rental firm, Broadway Rental, in Minneapolis, was a
frequent visitor to one of Ray's larger video rental store customer's and did
not like the software he had running his own businesses. Broadway Rental
was an ideal first customer for "AlphaRENTALTM"
being they had two equipment rental locations and one party rental location,
and wanted them all to be connected on-line in real time to a central fileserver over dedicated
phone lines. AlphaRENTAL has been in continual development since 1989 and is being used by rental businesses that specialize in the rental of aerial lifts, generators, heaters, or party / special event rentals; along with companies that rent everything from small tools to large construction equipment. Many of our customers also rent equipment with additional "interval" charges such as trucks, pumps, diamond blades, etc. Broadway Rental is still using AlphaRENTAL to run their operation, now over 22 years later.
In 1992 our development team started development of AlphaSPORTSTM,
which was to serve the ski rental and mountain sports industry. This market
has several unique things that a software package needed to handle, and today
we have several large ski rental clients that are helping us further enhance
this product. The ski rental industry processes more transactions in less
time than either the video or equipment rental industry, so we have had to make
the AlphaSPORTSTMpackage incredibly fast and
easy to use; striving to make every process in the entire package bar code driven.
We have innovated many new ideas, such as having the customer enter themselves
at the start of the transaction (currently four languages for this process:
English, Spanish, German, and French); and we strive to apply what we have learned
with AlphaSPORTSTM to our other products which
keeps us further ahead of our competitors. We are proud to say that we still have our first ski rental clients also, now almost 20 years later.
Over time, MovieRENTTM, AlphaRENTALTMand AlphaSPORTSTM were installed in locations
around the country, and the owners of these rental companies needed more and
more multi-site capabilities. They wanted to know more about the performance
of each store on a daily basis, the ability to look up inventory availability
by store, do store to store inventory transfers, have the ability to do revenue
sharing, electronic messaging, etc. These needs drive the continuing
development of our software products.
The development team at Genisys was first to integrate Radio Frequency (RF)
based hand held terminals to their software back in 1996 With this new software and hardware, transactions such as
renting or returning a serialized bar coded item, entering meter readings and
fuel usage, taking inventory, and placing or removing items from the "repair
shop" can all be performed with a hand held terminal. This helps
keep customer service / satisfaction high, and improves turnaround time on your
rental inventory.
This technology is also available in the AlphaSPORTSTM
package where Ski Tech stations are completely wireless! The boot sizes,
binding settings, and skis selected by the customer are displayed on the hand-held
unit so the technician can work out on the floor, and not be tied to a terminal/keyboard/scanner.
The technician can also interact with the system with inventory adjustments
and more.
